Impact of Occupations and Hobbies on the Severity of Carpal Tunnel Syndrome

Abstract: We evaluated the severity of carpal tunnel syndrome (CTS) by electrodiagnostic studies in 613 patients with occupations/hobbies. The occupation severity scores were greatest in garment workers, musicians, and landscapers. Gardeners had the highest hobby severity score. Physicians should be alert to occupations/hobbies associated with a greater risk of severe CTS.
