Impact of Nursing Methodology Training Sessions on Completion of the Virginia Henderson Assessment Record

Abstract: The Virginia Henderson model, integrated in the computer application GACELA Care, helps to standardise the nursing assessment and establish precise and personalised nursing diagnoses. “…The NCCR has been implemented in all medical and surgical units in the hospital since 2006. This report is framed in the assessment of nursing based on the 14 basic needs of Virginia Henderson (Henderson, 1994; Lopez et al., 2020). The information registered in the NCCR was sociodemographic data (sex and age); the risk of pressure injuries per the Norton scale (Defloor & Grypdonck, 2005; Park et al., 2016) at admission and discharge; and the level of dependence to perform activities of daily living using the Barthel scale (Gonzalez et al., 2018), the presence and level of pain per the visual analogue scale (VAS) (Bijur et al., 2001; Kim et al., 2017), and the presence and type of pressure injury only at discharge.…”
