Impact of meteorological conditions on the incidence of acute aortic dissection

Abstract: Background: There is still much controversy about whether meteorological conditions influence the occurrence of acute aortic dissection (AAD). The aim of the present study was to investigate the possible correlation between atmospheric pressure, temperature, lunar cycle and the event of aortic dissection in our patient population. Methods: The clinical data for 348 patients with AAD (73% type Stanford A) were confronted with the meteorological data provided by the Cologne weather station over the same period. … Show more

“…In the red cell it acts as a component of the membrane cytoskeleton and in both locations acts as a chloride-bicarbonate anion exchanger. 2 This genetic variant results in SAO, but despite its effects on the nephron, does not on its own result in a dRTA phenotype. 2 dRTA is rare, with incidence estimated to be <1:100000.…”

“…2 This genetic variant results in SAO, but despite its effects on the nephron, does not on its own result in a dRTA phenotype. 2 dRTA is rare, with incidence estimated to be <1:100000. 4 It is characterised by the inability of α-intercalated cells of the collecting duct to secrete H + ions into urine and an associated metabolic acidosis caused by a non-functional chloride-bicarbonate anion exchanger in α-intercalated cells.…”
