The early Poisson distribution and Markov autoregressive models can no longer reflect the characteristics of smart grid business flow. The long correlation characteristics of burst flow are simulated by the heavy tail ON/OFF model with multi-source convergence, while the Poisson model with short correlation and no memory is used for random flow. The simulation results show that the synthesized flow is still has a certain statistical self-similarity, and the coefficient H decreases after synthesis.That the long correlation and burst of self-similar business flows will not be smoothed by the convergence and synthesis of the self-similar business flows with short correlation services. In the actual operation process, the station-level power grid will result in load aggravation and significantly affect the network performance when it acts in response to faults. Therefore, it is necessary to consider the changes of network performance under different burst degrees.

The paper presents the results of an experimental investigation and statistical analysis of the data streams generated by popular Internet services. It is found that every investigated Internet service generates data streams of a specific type, possessing specific statistical characteristics. On this basis, it is possible to develop an analog of the classical metrology approach for the data streams generated by Internet services. Furthermore, i the problem of the data streams superposition “at the source” (i.e., on a user’s computer or on a local network) is investigated. It is found that the data streams are additive, with sufficient accuracy for engineering applications (but not exactly additive).

In the present paper, we consider a model that can be described as a “users – network applications” in local networks. The characteristic scales of the model are: the number of users up to 1024, time of events from several seconds to hours, the transmitted data volume –10-10000Kb. This scale rise to a new model that appears between the packet-level and the global Internet level models. We introduce the no-tion of the elementary data flow from an Internet service and from a peer. By using these notions, we develop the “metrology” approach to the modeling of data flow in local networks. Examples are present-ed.
