Impact of land use change on habitat quality and regional biodiversity capacity: Temporal and spatial evolution and prediction analysis

Abstract: The ecological stability of a region and the promotion of its coordinated environmental and economic development depend on habitat quality, which is a key indicator of the territory’s biodiversity capacity. A case study is done in Suzhou City, Jiangsu Province, to determine how land use changes affect habitat quality. The types of land use in 2030 are simulated based on 2000, 2010, and 2020. The InVEST and CA-Markov models analyze and predict how land use will change in Suzhou. Spatial analysis methods, such a… Show more

“…The first objective aims to assess the efficiency of integrating wetland technology in urban development projects to achieve sustainable outcomes. Numerous studies have highlighted the positive impact of wetland technology on water quality improvement (Hassett & Steinman, 2022;Li et al, 2022). The significant differences observed in WQPs (WQP2 and WQP5) between integrated and non-integrated areas, as indicated by the t-test results, support the alternative hypothesis (H1).…”

“…Land use changes were found to be the most important factor affecting habitat quality in (Z. Li et al, 2022) analysis of the spatial and temporal variation of habitat quality in Suzhou City. (Yang et al, 2022) investigated how regional environmental information disclosure affected water quality in China and discovered that higher levels of information disclosure were linked to a more neutral water environment.…”

“…Land use change and ecological security are important topics and hot issues in global environmental change research, and the habitat quality of a region is an important reflection of ecosystem service function and health [6][7][8]. In recent decades, rapid industrial development, localized urban expansion, and intensive agricultural activities have directly affected regional habitat quality and biodiversity [9][10].…”
