Aim: To evaluate the efficacy of different soil amendments on plant growth parameters and economics in maize (Zea mays L). Place and Duration of Study: Maize variety 900-M-GOLD was cultivated during rabi 2014-15 at College Farm, College of Agriculture, Rajendranagar, PJTSAU, Hyderabad, Telangana state, India. Methodology: The Experiment was laid out in Randomized Complete Block Design (RCBD) with 6 treatments replicated four times. Treatments consist of T1- vermicompost @ 5 t ha-1 ,T2-FYM @ 10 t ha-1 , T3-tanksilt @ 50 t ha-1 , T4- biochar @10 t ha-1 ,T5- control (without any fertilizer),T6- RDF (NPK-200, 60, 50 kg ha-1). Recommended Dose of Fertilizers was commonly applied from treatment T1 to T4. Results: There were no significant difference in plant population with the application of all the treatments. At harvest, significantly higher leaf area index recorded with application of tanksilt (1.67) which was on par with vermicompost (1.66), biochar (1.65), FYM (1.65), RDF (1.51) and significantly higher than control (0.80). Maximum gross returns (INR 1,31,283 ha–1), net returns (INR 85,533 ha–1) and BC ratio (2.87) were recorded with the application of tanksilt and minimum gross returns (INR 51,431 ha–1), net returns (INR 24,781 ha–1) and BC ratio (1.93) were recorded in the control. Conclusion: It was determined that growth parameter viz., leaf area, leaf area index recorded significantly higher with tanksilt application which is on par with the application of vermicompost, biochar, FYM. Maximum gross returns (INR 131283 ha–1), net returns (INR 85533 ha–1) and BC ratio (2.87) were recorded with the application of tanksilt.

A field experiment on Agronomic options for zinc enrichment in maize was conducted at College farm, College of Agriculture, PJTSAU, Rajendranagar, Hyderabad during kharif 2019-2020. The experiment was laid out in randomized block design with 10 treatments and replicated thrice. The soil of experimental site was sandy loam type, slightly acidic in pH (6.30), non-saline in EC (0.21 dSm -1 ), low in organic carbon (0.42%), low in available N (230.60 kg ha -1 ), medium in available P (24.30 kg ha -1 ), high in available K (388.40 kg ha -1 ) and low in available Zn (0.54 ppm). The results revealed that plant growth parameters (plant height and dry matter production), yield attributes (cob length and cob girth), grain (6053 kg ha -1 ) and stover yield (9084 kg ha -1 ) were highest with T5 {RDF + FYM enrichment with 50 kg ZnSO4 ha -1 } and it was on par with T7 {RDF + ZSB (1kg/100 kg FYM) + 0.2% foliar spray of ZnSO4 at Knee-high and Tasseling stages} while the lowest growth and yield parameters were recorded with T1 {RDF alone (Control-N: P2O5: K2O @ 200:60:50 kg ha -1 )}.

A study was conducted to evaluate the effect of foliar spray of nano fertilizer on growth characters of maize involving hybrid variety (pioneer) during Rabi season 2022-23 at Crop Research Cafeteria at Mandsaur University Mandsaur. This experiment was laid out in Randomized Block Design (RBD) with three replication involving eight treatments and five growth characters of maize. The analysis of variance (ANNOVA) has indicated significant amount of variability present among all eight treatments and all five quantitative character studies. The obtained results revealed that the application of 100% NPK + 2 spray of nano N-fertilizer is more beneficial in terms of growth, productivity, maximum gross return, net return, beneficial cost ratio and sustainability over rest of treatments which lead us to recommend the treatment of 100% NPK + 2 spray of nano N-fertilizer as a most proper nutrients management practice to be applied in sandy loam soil at under Mandsaur region conditions.
