This article is aimed at considering the issue of teaching vocational oriented foreign language reading to engineering students (oil industry students in particular). Such reading skills are substantiated to be essential for future specialists. The concept of vocational oriented foreign language reading is introduced; some aspects of teaching this type of reading to enhance the efficiency of the learning process are explored, the feasibility of using authentic, vocational oriented foreign language text and developed exercises to them in the educational process is analyzed. In the course of the study, we used the following methods: conducting a survey, testing, quantitative and qualitative analysis of the data obtained, statistic data processing. Data processing and graphical representation were carried out using computer programs SPSS 17.0 (IBM) and Microsoft Office Excel 2017. The article covers a review of experimental training vocational oriented foreign language reading, as well as the results of this work, which show that vocational oriented foreign language reading makes the process of learning to read vocational texts more effective, leads students to better grasp of material in a foreign language and allows to increase students' motivation of foreign language learning. The outcome of the experimental learning included not only improvement of the skills of future oil field specialists in reading and understanding texts, but also revealed a number of problems in the educational process. Thus, our findings have implications for further research.

Carbon markets are highly relevant to the need to regulate man-made greenhouse gas emissions. As the world faces the dangerous effects of global warming, reducing greenhouse gas emissions has become a critical priority for governments, corporations and individuals around the world. Carbon markets offer a way to incentivize and encourage emissions reductions and facilitate a smooth transition to a low-carbon economy. Low-carbon development is possible by building transparent and understandable organizational and economic conditions for the operation of carbon regulation. This article considers the feasibility of introducing energy-efficient technologies at Polymetal International PLC enterprises located in Khabarovsk region, engaged in the mining and processing of non-ferrous and precious metals (gold, silver and copper) in light of the country’s growing attention to the regulation of carbon dioxide emissions. The objective of this study is to model the organizational and economic conditions of the carbon market and estimate the economic and climate outcomes from the implementation of energy-efficient technologies at Polymetal International PLC. This study analyzes the current energy-consumption structure of non-ferrous metallurgy enterprises in Russia and identifies potential areas for the use of energy-efficient technologies. An important aspect is the assessment of government policies and incentives that could facilitate the introduction of low-carbon technologies. It is important to assess the impact of prospective carbon-management plans in Russia on the economic performance of steel companies. The results of this study suggest that the introduction of low-carbon technologies has the potential to significantly reduce energy consumption, lower operating costs and reduce carbon dioxide emissions from non-ferrous metal companies in Russia. However, the successful implementation of these technologies will require significant investment, stakeholder cooperation and political support from the Russian government.

The present study contributes to the ongoing debate on environmental sustainability and the low-carbon agenda in terms of an analysis of a relatively new international association, the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO). Based on panel data from SCO countries from 2000 to 2020, the hypothesis of the existence of the Environmental Kuznets Curve (EKC) was tested. The results showed the validity of the EKC hypothesis for the SCO countries; in particular, the gross domestic product and natural resource rents have a connection with greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions, while trade openness, foreign direct investment and the use of renewable energy sources reduce GHG emissions in the long term. It was also found that the effect of economic growth on GHG emissions in the long term in the SCO countries has the form of an inverse N-curve. Based on the analysis performed, recommendations are offered to improve energy policy in the field of alternative energy sources, natural resources—rents on them, openness to foreign markets and attracting foreign investment.
