“…Apart from differences related to imaging techniques, these discrepancies might be related to a biphasic evolution of LV booster pump function with advancing diastolic dysfunction, mirroring the progression of the transmitral profile. As suggested by Otani et al [24], there might be a compensatory augmentation of the LA booster pump function in patients with mild and moderate diastolic dysfunction, but a significant reduction in presence of severe diastolic dysfunction.
