Abstract: The idea of climate action including adaptation and mitigation is preposterous and unattainable without financial backing and investments, a requisite, which is fulfilled by climate financing. However, the concept of climate action is not synonymous with climate justice, where tackling climate threats with the aid of climate finance does not always manifest in gender-equitable conditions. The current paper presents a broad review of literature, expanding on the ‘distributive, contextual, and procedural’ equity… Show more

“…The potential for cross-regional collaboration is evident in the empirical estimation of the nexus between green finance and climate change mitigation in the N-11 countries, which can provide valuable insights for both the USA and African countries (Nawaz et al, 2020). This underscores the importance of community involvement and equity considerations in climate finance strategies.…”

“…Yet, climate financing mechanisms do now have established track records on gender. -A primary concern remains of misdirected climate finance which not only does not support gender objectives but actually adversely impacts on gender justice (Sultana, 2021;Wong, 2016;Waheed & Waheed, 2022). The OECD (2022a) finds that climate-related Official Development Assistance (ODA) with a significant gender equality objective increased from 32% or $5.9 billion to 55% or $21.9 billion over the period 2011-2012 to 2019-2020.…”
