Impact of Climate Change on Dryland Agricultural Systems: A Review of Current Status, Potentials, and Further Work Need

Abstract: Dryland agricultural system is under threat due to climate extremes and unsustainable management. Understanding of climate change impact is important to design adaptation options for dry land agricultural systems. Thus, the present review was conducted with the objectives to identify gaps and suggest technology-based intervention that can support dry land farming under changing climate. Careful management of the available agricultural resources in the region is a current need, as it will play crucial role in t… Show more

“…In order to meet demand, agricultural production and food supply chains must be optimized through the production and delivery of effective food, feed, fiber, and fuel (Abe 2017). Urbanization, climate change, and water scarcity make this goal more difficult (Ahmed et al, 2022 ; Ejaz et al, 2022 ). Big data of agriculture (AgBD) will be considered the key factor of the Second Green Revolution, required to meet these demands.…”

“…Moreover, nineteen papers discuss the issue of predicting and managing farm complexity, but, at the same time, great relevance is given to the food-security problem, discussed in nine sources. The research piece by Ahmed et al. (2022) is an example of this last issue.…”

“…Global warming and unsustainable management have influenced agricultural production in the dry land, leading to food insecurity and loss of biodiversity (Ahmed et al 2022;Hirwa et al 2022). The negative impact of climate change, particularly in the semi-arid regions of the world, is due to the rapid melting of glaciers and prolonged droughts, leading to significant declines in agricultural development (Ullah et al 2021).…”
