ABSTRACT3D woven composites reinforced with either S2 glass, carbon or a hybrid combination of both and containing either polyethylene or carbon z-yarns were tested under low-velocity impact. Different impact energies (in the range of 21-316 J) were used and the mechanical response (in terms of the impact strength and energy dissipated) was compared with that measured in high-performance, albeit standard, 2D laminates. It was found that the impact strength in both 2D and 3D materials was mainly dependent on the in-plane fiber fracture. Conversely, the energy absorption capability was primarily influenced by the presence of z-yarns, having the 3D composites dissipated over twice the energy than the 2D laminates, irrespective of their individual characteristics (fiber type, compaction degree, porosity, etc.). X-ray microtomography revealed that this improvement was due to the z-yarns, which delayed delamination and maintained the structural integrity of the laminate, promoting energy dissipation by tow splitting, intensive fiber breakage under the tup and formation of a plug by out-of-plane shear.

Челябинск, РоссияПроведены статические испытания стеклопластика марки СТЭФ на растяжение для оп-ределения упругих и прочностных характеристик на испытательной машине INSTRON 5882. Обширные баллистические испытания были проведены на пластинах их стеклопластика СТЭФ, используя стальной шарик диаметром 6,35 мм. Для разгона шарика до скоростей 900 м/с был использован баллистический стенд ЮУрГУ. Испытания были проведены для пластин без предварительной нагрузки, а также для пяти уровней предварительного на-гружения. Нагружение задавалось с помощью испытательной машины INSTRON 5882. Образец помещали в захваты и задавали требуемую растягивающую нагрузку, после чего по образцу производился выстрел. Баллистические характеристики были оценены с точки зрения предельной характеристики материала -баллистического предела V 50 .После испытаний было произведено сравнение эффективности материала при разных уровнях предварительного нагружения. Были построены баллистические кривые для каж-дого уровня нагрузки, а также получена зависимость изменения баллистического предела от величины предварительной нагрузки. Было получено, что предварительная нагрузка уменьшает баллистический предел стеклопластиковых пластин. При величине предвари-тельной нагрузки, равной 50 % от предела прочности материала баллистический предел уменьшается на 15 %.Также была найдена зависимость площади расслоения стеклопластика от начальной скорости удара для каждого уровня нагрузки. Было отмечено, что время отклика на разрыв образца после пробития зависит от уровня предварительной нагрузки. Так максимальная задержка разрыва после пробития составляла около 8 с для образца, предварительно на-груженного до 180 МПа. Эта задержка возникает из-за ползучести материала и зависимо-сти прочности от времени.Ключевые слова: баллистический удар, баллистический предел, предварительное на-гружение, стеклопластик. ВведениеМножество современных конструкций выполнены частично или полностью из композитных материалов. Одним из основных используемых композитных материалов является стеклопла-стик, который широко используется в авиапромышленности и транспортной промышленности ввиду его высокой прочности, малой плотности и доступной цене. Однако этот материал являет-ся очень восприимчивым к трансверсальному удару, легко расслаиваясь. При эксплуатации стек-лопластиковых конструкций, например, в авиации, можно выделить два случая, при которых об-разуются дефекты несущих поверхностей: наземная эксплуатация (удары падающим инструмен-том при обслуживании, удары града и т. п. -низкоскоростной удар) и полетные случайные повреждения (кусочками бетонной крошки из-под переднего колеса при взлете с взлетно-посадочной полосы, осколками снарядов и пуль в боевых ситуациях -высокоскоростной удар).
