Immunotherapy-Related Publications in Colorectal Cancer: A Bibliometric Analysis

Abstract: Patients with microsatellite-instability-high (MSI-H) or mismatched repair-deficient colorectal cancer (CRC) appear to be responsive to checkpoint inhibitors. This study aimed to assess research trends in CRC immunotherapy. Publication patterns of articles covering immunotherapies in CRC in the Web of Science Core Collection database were retrospectively examined using VOS viewer software (version 1.6.16) prior to 25 May 2021. Ultimately, 3977 records were identified that were published between 1975 and 2021, … Show more

“…Several studies have been conducted on the immunotherapy of certain types of cancer, including colorectal cancer, renal cell carcinoma and Hepatocellular Carcinoma. 17–19 However, in order to help investigators to establish advanced research summarizes and help exploring study gaps, a relatively comprehensive visualization analysis in this area is required. This study aimed to use bibliometric analysis of the published literature on immunotherapy in cancer to illustrate the research trends over the past 20 years and to summarize the hotspots for future studies.…”

“…Like in other medical fields (e.g., ophthalmology, dermatology), the authors from the US played a dominating role in the research field of RCC and published two-thirds of the 100 top-cited articles. [ 13 , 25 , 26 ] In addition, the authors from the US built effective partnerships with researchers from different countries in scientific research and kept a good scientific reputation. There was only one developing country among 13 countries that published the 100 top-cited articles.…”

“…The analysis of highly cited literature can review the current research status, identify research hotspots, and provide new ideas for future research. [ 11 ] Bibliometric methods have been widely used in medical fields, such as dermatology, [ 12 ] general surgery, [ 13 ] and radiology. [ 14 ] To our knowledge, there is still no systematic and comprehensive analysis of the literature on RCC.…”

Through this analysis, bibliometrics provides essential insights into the level of scientific output, patterns of behavior, and progress in a particular field of research ( 14 ). The objective of this study was to employ bibliometric analysis and discuss the results in a narrative review pattern to elucidate the current status and emergent trends in the field of ADCs of UC.…”
