Immunotherapy improves disease prognosis by affecting the tumor microenvironment: A bibliometric study

Abstract: BackgroundImmunotherapy has shown great potential for the treatment of multiple cancer and has been proven to be closely related to the tumor microenvironment. This article reveals collaborations and interactions among authors, nations, organizations, and periodicals assesses the knowledge base, and discovers hot tendencies and new topics associated with immunotherapy-tumor microenvironment (TME) research.MethodsThis article utilized bibliometrics and visual methods to provide a comprehensive overview of immun… Show more

“…The TME represents a fundamental piece in the study of cancer biology, and several recent studies indicate its promise for discovering biomarkers for prognosis and even treatment resistance [3,4,19,20,[53][54][55]. However, the number of broadly applicable biomarkers from pathology that provide strong prognosis information, while generalizing to different studies, remains limited.…”

“…The tumor microenvironment (TME) is a complex ecosystem, comprising proliferating tumor cells, tumor stroma, immune cells, blood and lymphatic vessels [1]. There is accumulating evidence underscoring the pivotal role of the TME in driving tumor progression [2], contributing to treatment resistance 1 [3], and influencing patient prognosis [4]. Recent technological advancements in spatial multiplex proteomics, such as multiplexed immunohistochemistry (mIHC) [5], co-detection by indexing (CODEX) [6], multiplexed ion beam imaging (MIBI) [7], and imaging mass cytometry (IMC) [8], have enabled the simultaneous assessment of a wide spectrum of proteins in tissue specimens.…”

“…The parameters in VOSviewer were set as follows: select “association strength” as the standardization method, and set the thresholds as at least 5 publications in countries/regions, at least 30 publications in institutions, at least 20 publications by author, publications, or co-citations by journal, at least 50 co-occurring keywords, and at least 100 citations in each publication. [ 9 , 10 ] The data exported from the VOSviewer analysis were imported into Charticulator ( https://donghaoren.org/charticulator/index.html ) and SCImago Graphica to optimize the visual outputs while maintaining their original contextual meanings. Charticulator was used to enhance author co-occurrence networks and journal co-occurrence networks, while SCImago Graphica perfected countries’ analysis and keyword co-occurrence analysis.…”

“…Bibliometric data were obtained from the Web of Science Core Collection (WOSCC) database, which is widely used for bibliometric analyses and offers comprehensive bibliometric information. 19 , 20 A search was conducted in the WOSCC database on March 30, 2023, covering the period from 2013 to 2022. The search strategy outlined in Figure 1 was used.…”
