“…Although a water‐soluble GFn inulin‐type polysaccharide (ALP‐1) purified from A. lappa was found by Wang et al 23 to alleviate mouse colitis, this polysaccharide had a molecular weight of 5120 Da and possessed branched chains, differing from the polysaccharide used in the present study, which may be related to different extraction methods 24 . Our previous research had found that BFO effectively improved the immunological function of S180 tumor‐bearing mice 18 . Herein, we aimed to investigate the preventive effects of BFO in colitis and elucidate the underlying mechanism.…”

“…A recent study revealed the immune‐regulatory and anticancerous effect of FOS derived from Arctium lappa root on S180 tumor‐bearing mice model. A dose of 1000 mg kg −1 day −1 of A. lappa FOS inhibited the tumor up to 44% (Zhang et al., 2019). Another noteworthy contribution unraveled the colon cancer inhibition upon fructan administration involved tumor necrosis factor alpha (TNFα) (Rivera‐Huerta et al., 2017).…”
