Immunological Responses in Infectious Mononucleosis

Abstract

Infectious mononucleosisis one of the differential diagnoses that must be considered in oatients with unexplained urticaria, and is, therefore, of interest to the allergist. Infectious mononucleosis also illustrates the multiple immunological reactivities which develop following the interaction of a virus (Epstein-Barr Virus -EB V) with the human host. The recognition of the various immunological responses has enhanced our understanding of the immunopathology and immunodiagnosis of this fascinating disease, as well as enhanced our general knowledge of the immunological system.
