Immunolocalization of dentin matrix protein‐1 in human primary teeth treated with different pulp capping materials

Abstract: The aim of this study was to evaluate the immunolocalization of dentin matrix protein (DMP)-1 in human primary teeth treated with different pulp capping materials. Twenty-five primary molars were divided into the following groups: formocresol (FC), calcium hydroxide (CH), mineral trioxide aggregate (MTA), corticosteroid/antibiotic solution + CH (O + CH), and Portland cement (PC), and all received conventional pulpotomy treatment. The teeth at the regular exfoliation period were extracted for histological analy… Show more

“…Dentin matrix protein-1 (DMP-1) is one of the dentin noncollagenous phosphorylated extracellular matrix proteins (SIBLINGs) involved in the regulation of mineralization. DMP-1 induces the cytodifferentiation of dental pulp stem cells, becoming odontoblast-like cells (Lourenço Neto et al 2015;Almushayt et al 2006).…”

“…All teeth were restored with reinforced zinc oxide-eugenol (IRM, Dentsply, Petropolis, RJ, Brazil) followed by resin-modified glass ionomer cement (Vitremer, 3M ESPE, São Paulo, SP, Brazil). Then, the patients were dismissed and recalled at periodic follow-ups at 3-month intervals, until the treated teeth achieved the regular exfoliation period to be extracted for histological and immunohistochemistry analyses [1,3].…”
