Immunohistochemical expression of core 2 β1,6‐N‐acetylglucosaminyl transferase 1 (C2GnT1) in endometrioid‐type endometrial carcinoma: a novel potential prognostic factor

Abstract: C2GnT1 appears to be involved in the biological aggressiveness of endometrial carcinoma. C2GnT1 might become a novel prognostic factor for endometrial carcinoma.

“…Notably, overexpression of GCNT1 has been reported to be associated with progression of prostate cancer (39, 40). Indeed up-regulation of GCNT1 has been reported in many cancer types, including endometrial carcinoma (41), breast cancer (42), bladder cancer (43), testicular germ cell tumor (44), and colorectal and pulmonary carcinoma (45, 46). Transfection of this gene into the GCNT1 -negative prostate carcinoma cell line LNCaP was reported to facilitate adhesion of the cells to type IV collagen and laminin, which may be a factor in aggressive tumor formation (40).…”

“…A short study (n=84) conducted by Miyamoto et al evaluated C2GnT1 expression using immunohistochemistry in paraffin-embedded endometrial tissues. High C2GnT1 expression correlated with high grade and advanced stage tumors [ 78 ].…”

“…Anti‐αGlcNAc (clone HIK1083, mouse IgM) was purchased from Kantokagaku. Rabbit polyclonal antibodies against α4GnT 11 and core 2 β‐1,6‐ N ‐acetylglucosaminyltransferase (C2GnT) 26 were prepared as described previously. Anti‐trefoil factor 2 (TFF2), rabbit polyclonal antibodies, was purchased from Proteintech.…”
