The prevalance of QT prolongation in chronic viral liver disease is high and the risk of complications is increased. We wanted to study the QT interval prolongation at the patients diagnosed with chronic hepatic disease and also to evaluate some of clinical and biochemical variables. We studied a cohort with 126 patients diagnosed with chronic viral hepatic diseases hospitalised to Cardiology Department, to the County Hospital of Craiova, between Octomber 2016 and January 2018. We aimed to determine the occurrence of QT interval prolongation in a large series of patients with chronic hepatic disease of viral etiology. We wanted to evaluated the QT prolongation to clinical and biochemical variables. The QT interval was measured by a standard 12-lead ECG for each patient, with prolongation defined as 460 ms. Multiple clinical and biochemical variables were evaluated including sex, age, areas (rural/urban) the frequency of arrhythmic events (PACs, PVCs, Atrial fibrillation, Bradycardia, Tachycardia), NT proBNP, Hb,uric acid, creatinine, alanine aminotransferase (ALT), aspartate aminotransferase (AST) , cholesterol, triglyceride, etc. The group of patients was composed by 43 woman and 83 men. From 43 women, representing 65.06% (461.56 �42.03) and from 83 men, means 66.67% (461.14 � 45.10) presented interval QT prolongation. Studing the distribution of hepatic etiologies we can see that 34 patients had hepatitis B, 35 patients hepatitis C, 5 patients B and C dual virus infection and 52 patients with chronic liver disease of etiology other than viral. We registered close results about QT interval prolongation on group, sex and origine group of patients. The value of QT interval to our patients was higher compared to other values recorder in other studies, at the patients with chronic hepatic disease, despide the fact we chose a higher value of QT prolongation. The highest value of QT interval was in the group of age between 60 and 69, even if in other studies we notice a prolonged QT interval at patients over 70 years old. The biological and biochemical profile of chronic hepatic disease of the subjects included in our study showed no statistical difference between male and female patients.We found a higher incidence of arrhythmic events, at patients with chronic hepatic disease of viral etiology, especially to premature atrial contraction and atrial fibrillation.We found a couple of correlation between QT interval prolongation and the evolution of chronic hepatic disease of viral etiology. It is very important to develop a strong and complex strategies to prevent and to treat the arrhythmic event presented at the patients diagnosticated with hepatic disease, because of the higher risk of developing life-threatening arrhythmias, includen sudden cardiac death.

The aim of our study was to assess the factors that influence the level of glycated hemoglobin in children and adolescents with type 1 diabetes (T1D). This study included 122 children and adolescents suffering from T1D who were in the evidence of the First Pediatric Clinic of the Clinical Emergency County Hospital of Craiova between 2003 and 2017. If HbA1c was less than 7.50%, we included patients in the glycemic equilibrium group, and if HbA1c was greater than 7.50%, we considered patients as suffering from unbalanced diabetes. By correlating the glycosylated hemoglobin level with the different parameters used in the study, we observed large/strong positive correlations between HbA1c and duration of diabetes mellitus and also between HbA1c and patient age, HbA1c negative correlation between physical activity, medium/moderate positive correlations between HbA1c and body mass index, weight of the patients and daily insulin dose and the height of the patients included in the study did not show significant correlations. Child and adolescent diabetes management has major adult differences in both insulin and drug treatment, in general, but especially in the need of understanding, counseling and integration specific to these ages.

Introduction: the participation of Cyclooxygenase-2 (COX-2) and Osteopontin has been postulated in the development of colon cancer, which play an important role in the progression and could be biomarkers for its prognosis, but their role remains controversial. Objective: to determine and to compare the expression of Osteopontin and COX-2 in non-tumor colonic mucosa, colonic adenomas and colon adenocarcinoma, in relation to the cell proliferation index. Methods: the immunohistochemical expression of COX-2, Osteopontin and Ki-67 in formalin fixed paraffin embedded tissue of non-tumor colonic mucosa, colonic adenomas and colon adenocarcinoma were determined and compared. Results: were included 65 cases: 19 of non-tumor colonic mucosa, 13 colonic adenomas and 33 colon adenocarcinomas. There was increased expression of Ki-67 in dysplastic and tumor cells. There was positive expression for COX-2 in adenomas (30.7%) and adenocarcinomas (27.3%), without significant difference between non- tumor colonic mucosa, adenomas and adenocarcinoma (p = 0.888). Osteopontin showed more frequent positivity in adenocarcinomas (72.7%) and adenomas (84.6%) than in non-tumor mucosa (10.5%), (p = <0.0001), without significant differences in its expression between subtypes and grades of adenoma dysplasia, nor between grades of differentiation, extension and proliferation of adenocarcinomas. There was a significant association between Osteopontin expression and the cell proliferation index. No association was observed between the expression of COX-2 and Osteopontin (p = 0.96). Conclusions: Osteopontin overexpression in colon adenocarcinoma and adenomas in comparison with non-tumor colonic mucosa, and its significant relationship with the cell proliferation index, constitutes additional evidence of its possible participation in the colonic carcinogenesis process.
