“…As described previously (Sassen et al, 1974), the RadLV(D)-inoculated mice show an increasing serum level of immunoglobulin followed by a plateau and then a decrease which occurs shortly before death. Consequently, a more pronounced increase of immunoglobulin during Tetramisole therapy cannot be regarded as protection.…”

“…Since immune depression is supposedly needed to see an effect of the drug, there could, perhaps, be a slight doubt as to the existence of such a deficiency during the leukemia experiments and, especially, during the rather long latent period of the induced radiation leukemia. In fact, humoral immunodepression has been found during the RadLV(D) disease (Sassen et al, 1974), and administration of tile Rauscher virus produced a decrease of humoral antibodies as well as a depressed cell-mediated immunity (Mortensen et al, 1973). Moreover, shortly after whole-body irradiation, immunological defects of both thymus and bone-marrow-derived lymphocytes have been sufficiently demonstrated (Gottlieb and Makinodan, 1974).…”

“…B cell activation occurring in MAIDS is associated with hypergammaglobulinaemia 2 , 21 . Accordingly, the serum levels of IgG2a, IgG3 and IgM quantified by ELISA, were found to be several fold increased in Du5H(G6T2)‐inoculated non‐transgenic mice (Table 2).…”
