“…The expression of miR-370-3p significantly increased (Fig. 3B ); therefore, we speculated that miR-370-3p was related to disc degeneration 26 . Furthermore, the results of RT-qPCR indicated that miR-370-3p expression increased in degenerated tissues (Fig.…”

“…25 In this study, we used two serological techniques, ELISA and IFA, using S. venezuelensis iL3 antigen. These were standardized in previous studies carried out by our group 10,13 with good performance in terms of sensitivity and specificity. As a result, it was possible to observe that the serological tests showed greater positivity than the parasitological methods, reinforcing their high sensitivity.…”

“…For the parasitological diagnosis, the analysis of a single fecal sample was analyzed by spontaneous sedimentation, Baermann modified, and agar plate culture techniques. 9 For serological techniques were used heterologous antigens from S. Immunofluorescence assay (IFA) was performed according to Gottardi et al 10 (sensitivity of 95.4% and specificity of 95.8%). Briefly, sections of S. venezuelensis iL3 in the Tissue-Tek OCT compound (Sakura Finetek) were obtained using cryo-microtome.…”

“…Increased access to newer diagnostics, such as the real‐time polymerase chain reaction, luciferase immunoprecipitation systems, and indirect immunofluorescence assay will be a welcome development . New data show improved sensitivity (95.4%) of the indirect immunofluorescence assay in immunosuppressed patients . However, until these diagnostics become more widely available, a high index of suspicion is required, and preemptive therapy in certain high‐risk patients should be considered.…”
