Abstract: Background and Objectives Metallothionein (MT) is a family of ubiquitous low molecular weight (7 kDa), intracellular (cytoplasmic/nuclear), cysteine rich proteins with high affinity for heavy metals, present in both normal cells and neoplastic cells.
