Immunoexpression of Bmi-1, CK15, Bcl-2 in different types of basal cell carcinomas

Abstract: Introduction: Basal cell carcinoma (BCC) occurs in aggressive and non-aggressive forms. The expression of immunohistochemical markers varies in different types of BCC. Aim: Immunohistochemical analysis of selected proteins in BCCs. Material and methods: The immunohistochemical method was used to examine the immunoexpression of Bmi-1, CK15 and Bcl-2 in 56 cases of BCC divided into four groups. Results: Positive Bmi-1 staining 3-4+ level (nodular type) was seen in 91.3% of samples, 4+ (infiltrative) in 92.3%, 4+… Show more

“…BCL-2 is diffusely positive in most BCC, but in TE it is mainly positive in the outermost epithelial cells. 20 CD10 is a marker of germinal central cells and their derived lymphomas. CD10 was positive for basal-like cells in BCC and negative for peripheral stromal cells, but the opposite was true in TE, which was positive for peripheral stromal cells and negative for basal-like cells.…”

“…Immunohistochemistry was performed using the standard streptavidin‐peroxidase method 11 with Bcl‐2 mouse anti‐human monoclonal antibody from Beijing Zhongshan Biotechnology Company at a dilution of 1:50. After surgical removal, specimens were formalin‐fixed, paraffin‐embedded, and sectioned at 4 μm thickness.…”
