“…Various recognition elements such as antibody, aptamer, biotin, and polymer have been functionalized onto surfaces of AuNCs to improve the selectivity of protein detection. Leblanc et al 105 prepared fluorescent AuNCs using poly(amido amine) (PAMAM) dendrimers as stabilizing agents and made use of this fluorescent assay for human IgG detection. To realize the immunodetection, a polyclonal, goat-derived antihuman IgG antibody was electrostatically conjugated with the as-prepared AuNCs.…”

“…Furthermore, the terminal groups (amine, carboxyl, and hydroxyl) of PAMAM dendrimers can be modified with different functionalities and can be linked with various biomolecules [14,15]. These unique structural features of PA-MAM dendrimers make them ideal nanoplatforms to conjugate biologically important substances (e.g., imaging agents [16][17][18], targeting molecules [19,20] and drugs [21][22][23][24]) for subsequent imaging, targeting, and treatment of biological systems [25][26][27][28][29].…”

“…An immunoassay based on the composed antibodyconjugated PAMAM-dendrimer-gold quantum dot complex was also suggested (Triulzi et al 2006 ). Due to the possibility of easy and effi cient modifi cation of their surface, different groups recognizing small molecules and ions can be attached to this surface.…”
