Immune marker expression in 53 lymphomas of high‐grade malignancy

Abstract: Tissue from 53 non-Hodgkin's lymphomas of high-grade malignancy according to the Kiel classification were analysed for cellular immunological markers. In most cases studies were performed in parallel on cell suspensions and cryostat sections. Histologically, the lymphomas were classified as anaplastic centrocytic (four), centroblastic (seven), Burkitt type (three), convoluted-cell type (five) lymphoblastic-unclassified (10), immunoblastic (IBL) (19) and pleomorphic T-cell type (five). Immunological phenotyping… Show more

“…S ince the introduction of monoclonal antibodies, immunohistochemistry has become an important tool in research and in diagnostic pathology (Sternberger et al 1970;Poppema et al 1981Poppema et al ,1987Pallesen et al 1983;Davey et al 1990;Lennert and Feller 1992). It enables the detection of defined antigens on cryostat sections and paraffin-embedded tissues.…”

“…In the phenotypic characterization of malignant lymphomas conducted since 1978 at Aarhus Kommunehospital (Pallesen, Madsen & Schifter 1983) we have regularly encountered cases with no firm diagnosis and where we never had any chance to obtain fresh biopsy material. In some of these cases autopsy was performed at the Institute of Pathology.…”
