Immobilizing Highly Catalytically Molybdenum Oxide Nanoparticles on Graphene-Analogous BN: Stable Heterogeneous Catalysts with Enhanced Aerobic Oxidative Desulfurization Performance

Abstract: Supported molybdenum oxide nanoparticles (MoO x NPs) have attracted intensive interest due to their unique catalytic properties. Herein, MoO x NPs anchored on graphene-analogous boron nitride (g-BN) was prepared by a simple one-step method. The interaction between supports and NPs can be enhanced, and the size of MoO x NPs can be controlled during the immobilization process. Molecular oxygen (O 2 ) in the air can be activated effectively with the as-prepared heterogeneous catalyst. It is noteworthy that experi… Show more

“…Desulfurization of fuel oil is of importance for reducing environmental pollution from the emission of sulfur oxides due to fuel combustion. With the stringent environmental regulations, the sulfur content in fuel oil must be reduced below 10 ppm in many countries . This means that the sulfur compounds like dibenzothiophene (DBT) and 4,6‐dimethyldibenzothiophene (4,6‐DMDBT) in fuel oil must be desulfurized.…”

“…With the development of the automobile industry, the demand for fuel is ever-increasing. However, the sulfur-containing compounds in the oil seriously pollute the ecological environment (Zhu et al 2016;Lu et al 2018;Yao et al 2018;Wang et al 2020;Li et al 2020Li et al , 2019bHao et al 2019;Han et al 2019;Liu et al 2020bLiu et al , 2020c. Petroleum coke, a by-product from the coking of slag oil in refining, shows versatile applications in the industry based on its quality.…”

“…In addition, Zhu and co-workers prepared a series of boron nitride (BN) material catalysts, which exhibit surprising catalytic activity. The sulfur compounds in diesel can be completely removed without using additives [36][37][38]. However, the disadvantage is that the desulfurization process needs to be carried out under high temperature conditions.…”
