In this work, novel ternary composite ZIF‐67/Ag NPs/NaYF4:Yb,Er is synthesized by solvothermal method. The photocatalytic activity of the composite is evaluated by sulfadiazine (SDZ) degradation under simulated sunlight. High elimination efficiency of the composite is 95.4% in 180 min with good reusability and stability. The active species (h+, ·O2− and ·OH) are identified. The attack sites and degradation process of SDZ are deeply investigated based on theoretical calculation and liquid chromatography‐mass spectrometry analysis. The upconversion mechanism study shows that favorable photocatalytic effectiveness is attributed to the full utilization of sunlight through the energy transfer upconversion process and fluorescence resonance energy transfer. Additionally, the composite is endowed with outstanding light‐absorbing qualities and effective photogenerated electron–hole pair separation thanks to the localized surface plasmon resonance effect of Ag nanoparticles. This work can motivate further design of novel photocatalysts with upconversion luminescence performance, which are applied to the removal of sulphonamide antibiotics in the environment.

This study aimed to develop effective adsorbents for capturing radioactive iodine in nuclear power waste gas. Two zinc metal−organic frameworks (Zn-MOFs) were synthesized and found to have favorable properties such as a large surface area, thermal stability, surface rich in π-electron-containing nitrogen, and redox potential. Adsorption experiments revealed maximum capacities of 1.25 and 1.96 g g −1 for the MOFs at 75 °C, with the pseudo-second-order kinetic model fitting the data well. The Langmuir equation provided a better fit in cyclohexane, with maximum adsorption amounts of 249 and 358 mg g −1 for Zn-MOF-1 and Zn-MOF-2, respectively. The MOFs were also stable during six cycles of adsorption and desorption. Furthermore, electron transfer occurred due to the synergistic adsorption of Zn, N, and O atoms, resulting in the conversion of some iodine to polyiodide. Zn-MOF-2 exhibited better chemisorption than Zn-MOF-1 due to a smaller highest occupied molecular orbital (HOMO)−lowest unoccupied molecular orbital (LUMO) gap. Notably, it was discovered that N-containing radicals had stronger interactions with iodine compared to radicals without N. These findings provide valuable insights into MOF synthesis and environmental protection.

The present study was aimed to evaluate the effects of nitrogen (N) fi xing Rhodopseudomonas palustris strains, VNW64, VNS89, TLS06 and VNS02 on soil fertility, growth and yield of hybrid maize cultivated on in-dyke alluvial soil (IDAS). The pot experiment followed a completely randomized block design with 10 treatments, 4 replicates for each treatment. The treatments comprised of (i) fertilization with 100% N following recommended fertilizer formula (RFF), (ii) fertilization with 85% N, (iii) fertilization with 70% N, (iv) fertilization with 55% N, (v) treatment i plus a mixture of four purple nonsulfur bacteria (MFPNSB), (vi) treatment ii plus MFPNSB, (vii) treatment iii plus MFPNSB, (viii) treatment iv plus MFPNSB, (ix) no chemical fertilization, and (x) treatment ix plus MFPNSB. The result indicated that treatments supplied with MFPNSB enhanced soil properties, including soil pH Water , NH 4 + content and total N uptake, in comparison with no supplemented bacteria, 6.11-6.15, 16.4-17.7 mg NH 4 + kg -1 and 1.43-5.02 mg N pot -1 in comparison with 5. 74-5.99, 11.3-12.7 mg NH 4 + kg -1 and 0.82-3.11 mg N pot -1 , respectively, for hybrid maize cultivated on IDAS. Inoculation of MFPNSB on maize seeds contributed to reducing 45% N of RFF, but still caused no decline in the grain yield of maize. At 100% N of RFF, the treatment supplemented MFPNSB possessed a grain yield of 20.2% higher than the treatment without supplemented MFPNSB. Additionally, the treatment fertilized with 85% N of RFF plus MFPNSB, the maize grain yield was increased by 12.5% compared to the treatment fertilized with 100% N of RFF.
