Immobilization of 4-amino-2-hydroxyacetophenone onto silica gel surface and sorption studies of Cu(II), Ni(II), and Co(II) ions

Abstract: The 4-amino-2-hydroxyacetophenone was immobilized onto silica gel modified with\ud 3-aminopropyltrimethoxy silane. The carried reaction is classic condensation reaction. The\ud obtained structure was characterized by infrared spectroscopy and thermo gravimetric analysis.\ud The values of adsorption of Cu(II), Ni(II), and Co(II) ions were detected with an atomic\ud absorption spectrometer. The experiment conditions for effective sorption of the studied\ud metal ions were performed by using batch method. The max… Show more

“…In the third stage, the dried 3-chloropropyl-bonded silica gel (5 g) was mixed with 33 mL of 25% 4-acetyl-3-hydroxyaniline (AHAP) solution in 50 mL of anhydrous toluene 37 and was reuxed under nitrogen for 24 h at 90 C. 38,39 The crude product obtained by the ltration of the suspension was washed with water and ether and then dried at 40 C for 72 h under vacuum to afford Si-CPTS-AHAP. [28][29][30] The possible structure of the synthesized Si-CPTS-AHAP adsorbent is shown in Fig. 1.…”

“…The values of 1/n for AC-Zn1 are <1, so they are an indication of high adsorption intensity. Values of n >1 show suitable adsorption conditions [71]. The Freundlich, Langmuir and Temkin parameters calculated based on the measured data are given in Table 6.…”

“…Removing these metal ions from the sewage stream is an important demand for a healthy setting. Several techniques have been used to eliminate metal ions from wastewater such as exchange of ions, extraction of solvents, flotation, oxidation, and adsorption [1][2][3]. Adsorption has gradually gained a lot of attention since late in perspective of the fact that this technique is essential and it generally has minimal effort and energy in expelling important metal particles from water.…”
