Imagining Narrative in Tasso: Revisiting Erminia

Abstract: Simile plays a far more fundamental role in Tasso’s Gerusalemme liberata than has generally been acknowledged, exemplary of what Tasso would refer to in his Discorsi del poema eroico   as the "parola pellegrina."
