Abstract:The abdomen and pelvis contain a complex network of systemic and portomesenteric veins. Disease processes (including occlusion or narrowing of these vessels) may create pathologic changes that may be compensated by collateral venous formation or alterations in physiology. This article reviews the imaging features of a variety of venous conditions within the abdomen and pelvis.
