Imaging of Particle Motion in Fluid-Solid Systems Using a Gamma Camera

Abstract: A new approach is presented for the characterization of particle motion in fluid-solid systems based on dynamic imaging with a gamma scintillation camera. A two-dimensional spouted bed of 200-500 micron diameter anion exchange resin beads was used as a test system. One or several beads were radiolabeled with the 140 keV gamma emitting radionuclide 99m-Tc pertechnetate, and particle velocity, particle path, the spatial distribution of particle residence times, and local bed density were determined from the meas… Show more

“…Radioactive Particle Tracking. Radioactive particle tracking experiments were performed using a γ-ray camera system 11 in a manner similar to that used in work reported earlier, 13 but with an improvement. A number of different types of γ-ray cameras are available on the market, but the principle of operation remains the same.…”

“…Finally, the last three subsecvessels. Castellana and Dudley (1984) were among the tions discuss the processing data generated by SPECT scanfirst researchers to visualize particle motion in fluidning, errors associated with SPECT scanning, and the use of solid systems using a gamma camera. With a similar CAT scanning as a complementary tool for soil structure charapproach, Lin et al (1985) used a series of photomultiacterization.…”
