Una larga historia entrelaza imágenes con pedagogía. ¿Qué usos puede hacerse de este vínculo para movilizar ideas, argumentos o sentar posiciones político-pedagógicas? La pregunta no es nueva. Las imágenes -advierte Inés Dussel (2010)- se utilizaron desde muy temprano para transmitir memorias, registrar acontecimientos o imprimir referencias perdurables, todas ellas tareas educativas que marcaron el vínculo entre los seres humanos y sus sociedades. Combinar estrategias curatoriales con la elaboración de nuevas narrativas en clave pedagógica permite movilizar ideas para construir posiciones argumentadas, iluminando la actualidad de viejos problemas. En este ensayo apelo a una serie de imágenes para reflexionar sobre las posibilidades de leer en clave pedagógica la historia de América Latina, particularmente en torno a la noción de soberanía pedagógica. Utilizaré la categoría de “escena fundante”, elaborada por Adriana Puiggrós (1995) para enhebrar tres tópicos -a partir de imágenes-, en torno a los cuales configurar una posición políticopedagógica enraizada en las tradiciones críticas del continente. Los fundamentos a los que remiten aquellos tópicos pedagógicos son el principio de la originalidad -contra la idea de réplica o imitación-, el principio de igualdad -como fundamento irrecusable de una pedagogía orientada al bien común-, y el principio político del que debe ser portador una pedagogía que aspira a desnaturalizar las desigualdades y formar sujetos comprometidos con la defensa de la democracia y de la educación como derecho
