Adhesive bond strength at the composite/dentin interface is influenced by various factors, including the etching mode and composite resin type. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the influence of the total-etch and self-etch mode on the microtensile bond strength (μTBS) of conventional and bulk-fill composite to dentin, using the universal adhesive system. Sixty non-carious human teeth were sectioned parallel to their longitudinal axis, using a low-speed diamond saw to obtain a flat dentin surface.According to the etching technique and composite resin type used, teeth were randomly divided into four different groups (n = 15): TC (total-etch/conventional composite), TB (total-etch/bulk-fill composite), SC (self-etch/conventional composite), and SB (self-etch/bulk-fill composite). Cylindric composite build-ups were made with 3M Filtek Z250 and 3M Filtek Bulkfill Posterior, using a plastic mold, 4 mm in diameter and 4 mm in height. The specimens were subjected to the μTBS test in a universal testing machine and failure force was recorded. Failure modes were determined using stereoscopic and scanning electron microscopy. Data were analyzed using the two-way ANOVA and Student's t test. The μTBS was significantly affected by the etching technique. A significant statistical difference was determined between total-etch and selfetch groups, irrespective of the composite resin type used. Higher bond strength was obtained in total-etch groups. The μTBS was not affected by the composite resin type.No significant statistical difference was determined between the conventional and bulk-fill groups, irrespective of the etching-mode.

Dentine hypersensitivity is a frequently encountered patient complaint that can present with a number of associated factors including erosion and abrasion. The hydrodynamic mechanism responsible for dentine hypersensitivity is intimately related to the anatomical and physiological composition of teeth. Alterations to the integrity of the enamel and dentine through processes of trauma, decay and toothwear can increase dentine permeability. This gives rise to symptoms of sensitivity as dentinal fluid movement in response to thermal, chemical and mechanical cues stimulate the pulpal Aδ fibres. Restorative procedures can also rapidly change the architecture of the protective enamel and dentine layers leading to pulpal inflammation and increased thermal sensitivity of the tooth. Patient-reported symptoms of dentine hypersensitivity can be attributed to a number of possible causes and a definitive diagnosis can therefore be difficult. A full history including social and medical factors such as occupation, diet and/or medication is likely to provide significant information to aid a diagnosis. Consideration of occlusal factors should not be overlooked as these may contribute to symptoms arising from a cracked tooth. Management strategies are linked to the diagnosis – from topically applied desensitising pastes and resin bonding agents to direct restorations and possibly more advanced restorative procedures such as root canal treatment. Management should, however, be staged to enable more conservative strategies to prevail prior to considering irreversible dental interventions.

Gereç ve Yöntemler:Gömülü 20 yaş dişlerinden 140 dentin preparatı elde edilmiştir. Preparatlar 7 gruba ayrılmıştır (n=20).Hiçbir uygulama yapılmayan preparatlar "K" kontrol, %6 sitrik asitte 1 dk. bekletilenler PS (Periacryl) TS (Teethmate) PTS (kombine uygulama); 24 saat yapay tükürükte bekletilenler TY (Teethmate) PY (Periacryl) PTY (kombine uygulama) olarak gruplanmıştır. Uygulama tamamlandığında preparatlar SEM cihazı kullanılarak morfolojik yapıları, açık dentin tübül alanları ve açık dentin tübül çapları açısından değerlendirilmiştir.Bulgular: Açık dentin tübüllerinin alanı kontrol grubuna kıyasla PS, PY, PTS ve PTY gruplarında azalmıştır (p>0,05).Numunelerdeki açık dentin tübül çap ortalamaları kontrol grubuna göre PS, PY, PTY, PTS ve TY gruplarında anlamlı derecede azalmıştır (p>0,05). AbstractAim: The aim of this in vitro study is to evaluate the persistence of the combined and single applications of cyanoacrylate (Periacryl) and tetra-calcium phosphate + dicalcium phosphate containing desensitizer (Teethmate) and their effect on dentin tubules. Material and Methods: 140 dentin samples were obtained from impacted third molars. The samples were divided into 7 groups (n = 20). Samples without any application named as K (control), samples were subjected to 6% citric acid solution for 1 min; PS (Periacryl) TS (Teethmate) PTS (combined application). Samples were immersed in artificial saliva for 24 hours named as; TY (Teethmate) PY (Periacryl) PTY (combined application). When the application was completed, the preparations were evaluated by scanning electron microscopy in terms of morphological structures, open dentin tubule areas and open dentin tubule diameters. Results:The area of open dentin tubules decreased in PS, PY, PTS and PTY groups compared to the control group (p> 0.05). The mean diameter of the open dentin tubule in the samples was significantly decreased in the PS, PY, PTY, PTS and TY groups compared to the control group (p> 0.05).
