Image Processing of Rotation of Moving Balls in Sports

Abstract: To demonstrate the principle of a breaking pitch during a ball game, we have developed an image processing system for a pitched ball during its transit. This system can detect the rotational speed and the orientation of rotational axis of a ball from images taken by a high-speed video camera.
