Abstract:This paper presents image gradient-based monocular visual-inertial odometry (VIO) algorithm, using image gradient measurements, robust to illumination change. We expand the measurements from the reprojected feature locations on the image coordinates to the corresponding image gradients. The iterated EKF and low-pass pyramid are adapted to reduce the linearization error in the multi-state constraint Kalman filter (MSCKF) measurement update process. We verify that our proposed algorithm outperforms both conventi… Show more

scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
