“…Investigating the similarities between our exoskeletons and the way shapes are described in modeling systems such as ILoveSketch [4] and EverybodyLovesSketch [5] is also of interest. Another potential avenue is to relate the principles behind our exoskeleton construction to the Gestalt theory of perception [54].…”

“…Not surprisingly, computer graphics has investigated shape abstraction intensively for a wide range of purposes, including animation [1,2], shape matching and retrieval [3], modeling [4,5], editing [6,7], and non-photorealistic rendering [8,9].…”
In this paper, we introduce the concept of an exoskeleton as a new abstraction of arbitrary shapes that succinctly conveys both the perceptual and the geometric structure of a 3D model. We extract exoskeletons via a principled framework that combines segmentation and shape approximation. Our method starts from a segmentation of the shape into perceptually relevant parts and then constructs the exoskeleton using a novel extension of the Variational Shape Approximation method. Benefits of the exoskeleton abstraction to graphics applications such as simplification and chartification are presented.

In this study, a 3D curve sketch imitates paper-and-pencil design styling fo architectural designers is presented, whic freeform 3D curve modeling. The system coh three kinds of curve creation methods: single stroke, two-view epipolar and projection surf imperceptible from paper-and-pencil base freeform 3D curve. Other assistant feature include an axis widget for projection s simplified 3D view navigation, and auto g recognition. The system aims to apply comfortable modeling environment for rapid in conceptual design process. An evaluation is unprofessional designer, and it is powerful a this sketch-based modeling system in expre intent within a real design process.

Abstract. It is necessary to construct and manipulate the referenced coordinate system and the working plane in the free-hand sketching system in a natural way that meets the habits of stylists. This paper has presented some methods in the functions of the referenced coordinate system and the working plane, which apply the gesture commands sketched, and the combination of the hot-key and the digital pen to deal with the functions that differ from the traditional methods in the current CAD systems.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
