We studied the current state-of-the-art of Smart TV, the challenges and the drawbacks. Mainly we discussed the lack of end-to-end solution. We then illustrated the differences between Smart TV and IPTV from network service provider point of view. Unlike IPTV, viewer of Smart TV's over-the-top (OTT) services could be global, such as foreign nationals in a country or viewers having special viewing preferences. Those viewers are sparsely distributed. The existing TV service deployment models over Internet are not suitable for such viewers as they are based on content popularity, hence we propose a community based service deployment methodology with proactive content caching on rendezvous points (RPs). In our proposal, RPs are intermediate nodes responsible for caching routing and decision making. The viewer's community formation is based on geographical locations and similarity of their interests. The idea of using context information to do proactive caching is itself not new, but we combined this with "in network caching" mechanism of content centric network (CCN) architecture. We gauge the performance improvement achieved by a community model. The result shows that when the total numbers of requests are same; our model can have significantly better performance, especially for sparsely distributed communities.

Abstract-Internet infrastructure energy consumption is a major topic of research nowadays due to environmental and economical concerns. Therefore, it is increasingly important new solutions that decrease energy consumption, but without impairing network throughput and costs. Hence, it is important to survey and categorize current techniques, not only applicable to IP networks, but that can also be potentially useful for the future Internet architectures, such as Publish-Subscribe architectures. Therefore, to achieve such goals this paper presents a survey on energy efficient architectures and functional mechanisms (such as energy adaptive routing) for the current and future Internet. The main goals are: to provide an overview of the issues of the current Internet architecture; to identify the contribution of the different proposals for the future Internet architecture; and to discuss energy saving techniques which improve Internet energy efficiency.Index Terms-Energy, future internet architectures, energy efficient routing, traffic engineering, survey.

Abstract-In order for a Future Internet architecture to be globally deployed, it must ensure that existing applications will continue to operate efficiently on top of it. As part of the Publish Subscribe Internet Routing Paradigm (PSIRP) project, we have explored various options for making endpoint centric applications based on the Sockets Application Programming Interface (API) compatible with the information centric PSIRP prototype implementation. We developed an emulator that mediates between the client/server socket calls and the publish/subscribe PSIRP calls, transforming the exchange of packets to distribution of publications. To assess the overhead of our emulator, we measure the execution time of a simple file transfer application in native socket mode, in emulated socket mode and in native publish/subscribe mode.
