Abstract:The pilot or navigator expects the forecaster to supply him with: (a) forecasts of wind and temperature; and (b) forecasts of meteorological hazards, e.g. turbulence, icing. The increase of operating height and range of modern aircraft make it increasingly difficult to maintain a high standard of accuracy of forecasts.
