Fifth-generation (5G) new radio and commercial networks are currently deployed by telecommunication service providers around the globe. A 5G active antenna system (AAS) consists of a passive antenna array, a transceiver front end, and a baseband unit-all integrated into a single module. As a consequence, the radio frequency ports of traditional base station antennas can be replaced with an Ethernetbased interface. New methods are needed to verify and optimize the antenna performance under these conditions. In this article, we propose an over-the-air (OTA) near-field method that makes it possible to measure and verify the radiation pattern of an AAS. A vector signal generator is used to provide a single-tone source at 3.5 GHz for a commercial passive base station antenna. To reconstruct both the near-field amplitude and the phase distribution of the near-field region of an antenna, we did the following. Two receiving paths to the vector network analyzer (with a reference antenna located at the back of the base station antenna) were combined with an existing probe antenna of the spherical nearfield measurement system. This way, a far-field radiation pattern can be realized using near-field-tofar-field transformation methods. The radiation patterns, which are measured using the OTA mode near-field method, are consistent with conventional near-field methods for 5G sub-6 GHz radio units.

A horizontal planar scanner with an approximate size of 40 m × 40 m has been implemented using the Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) technology. The UAV is not wired to the ground to maintain the flexibility and short setup time of a non-tethered flight. In this configuration, the UAV-mounted continuous-wave source is not phase-locked to the on-the-ground receiver. A dual-polarized reference antenna placed on the ground is hence used to retrieve the relevant phase information. The presented approach has been applied on the Pre -Aperture Array Verification System (Pre -AAVS1) of the Square Kilometre Array, which is a digital beamformed array with 16 active elements. An inverse source technique has been applied on measured Near-Field (NF) data acquired on two different sets of points (one for each electric field component) from all the receiver channels. In this way, Embedded Element Patterns (EEPs), array calibration coefficients and pattern have been determined from NF data only. Баумана, Москва, Россия Разработан и изготовлен лабораторный стенд, предназначенный для измерения характеристик излучения антенн СВЧ и КВЧ диапазонов частот, на основе экономичного компактного планарного сканера ближнего электромагнитного поля. Выполнена серия экспериментов по измерению диаграмм направленности облучателя Ku-диапазона длин волн, разработанного для радиоколлиматора компактного полигона АКК1-05 (ДФ МГТУ им. Н.Э. Баумана). Сравнительный анализ характеристик излучения, полученных расчетным методом, методом планарных измерений ближнего поля и методом «точка-точка» в дальней зоне, показал эффективность разработанного компактного планарного сканера.Ключевые слова: облучатель, столообразная диаграмма направленности, коллиматор, ближнее поле, планарный сканер, диаграмма направленности, компактный полигон, Ku-диапазон длин волн ВведениеСуществует большое разнообразие методов измерения характеристик излучения ан-тенн [1][2][3][4][5]. В последние годы с развитием высокоточной механики и ростом скорости из-мерения векторных анализаторов цепей широкое применение нашли ближнеполевые ме-тоды измерения [6]: планарные [7], по цилиндру и по сфере [8]. Стоит выделить ряд пре-имуществ данных методов, по сравнению с классическими методами дальней зоны «точ-ка-точка»: 1) В результате промера получается трехмерная диаграмма направленности.2) Малые габариты измерительного стенда (соизмерим с размерами исследуемой антенны). 3) Более низкие требования к «безэховости» помещений. Существует ряд недостатков, такие как: 1) Измерения проводятся дольше, чем при съеме сечения ДН антенны.2) Требуется постобработка полученных данных.
