Abstract: BackgroundIdiopathic hypoparathyroidism (IHP) is a rare disorder that is diagnosed by excluding other possible etiologies. Thyroid surgery causes approximately 14–60% of all cases of hypoparathyroidism; of these, surgery for papillary thyroid carcinoma (PTC) is the most common reason.
