The interest in renewable energy to replace fossil fuel is increasing as the problem caused by climate change has become more severe. In this study, small hydropower (SHP) was evaluated as a resource with high development value because of its high energy density compared to other renewable energy sources. SHP may be an attractive and sustainable power generation environmental perspective because of its potential to be found in small rivers and streams. The power generation potential could be estimated based on the discharge in the river basin. Since the river discharge depends on the climate conditions, the hydropower generation potential changes sensitively according to climate variability. Therefore, it is necessary to analyze the SHP potential in consideration of future climate change. In this study, the future prospect of SHP potential is simulated for the period of 2021 to 2100 considering the climate change in three hydropower plants of Deoksong, Hanseok, and Socheon stations, Korea. The results show that SHP potential for the near future (2021 to 2040) shows a tendency to be increased, and the highest increase is 23.4% at the Deoksong SPH plant. Through the result of future prospect, we have shown that hydroelectric power generation capacity or SHP potential will be increased in the future. Therefore, we believe that it is necessary to revitalize the development of SHP to expand the use of renewable energy. In addition, a methodology presented in this study could be used for the future prospect of the SHP potential.

The variability of river flow depends on environmental changes that are due to either natural or human causes. Measuring river flow is an essential activity in the domain of hydrology that gives valuable information on river conditions. An appropriate understanding of the conditions of the water courses and a good anticipation of all possible situations and problems that may arise are essential. The average daily river flow time series will be analyzed on the case study of river Gornja Dobra in Croatia. Rescaled Adjusted Partial Sums (RAPS) analysis with correlation analysis will be applied to the time series provided by two available limnigraph measurement stations, Turkovići and Luke. The examples will give insight into the ability to forecast river flows in the analyzed case study and other regions in Croatia and the world. The presented methodology could be used for flood protection, determining the hydroenergy potential of the rivers, irrigation, and many other purposes.

Climate change due to weather anomalies causes rainfall and frequency to be more intense than normal conditions, including on the island of Sumatera, Indonesia. This has the potential to cause hydrometeorological disasters, such as floods and landslides. The intensity duration frequency (IDF) is an approach of rainfall amounts in water resources engineering for planning, designing, and operating water resources projects. Therefore, this article aims to conduct a rainfall intensity mapping study for specific return periods using the intensity duration frequency (IDF) approach, a case study of Sumatera Island, Indonesia, with the period of historical rainfall between 2013 and 2022. The purpose of the study is to provide essential reference information to mitigate hydrometeorological disasters to avoid the accumulation of rainwater in disaster-prone areas. The method used is a quantitative study using historical rainfall data from 48 rainfall recording stations in the Sumatera Island area. The results of this study show that the average maximum daily rainfall at nine stations is in the normal category, 39 rain gauge stations are in the standard medium rainfall category, and the rest are in the high category. Maps for each of these conditions are attached as the main results of this study. The practical application of this research has generated disaster vulnerability maps using IDF approaches for Sumatera Island (Indonesia) based on rainfall, emphasizing decreasing and aware activity in these areas.
