Identifying prognostic biomarkers in endometrial carcinoma based on ceRNA network

Abstract: Purpose Endometrial carcinoma (EC), a common gynecological malignancy with high incidence, affects the mental and physical health of women. Mounting evidence shows that long noncoding RNAs (lncRNAs), messenger RNAs (mRNAs), and microRNAs (miRNAs) have instrumental roles in various biological processes associated with the pathogenesis of EC. In this research, we intend to further study the mechanism of EC and the potential predictive markers of EC. Methods First, we obtained original data of EC RNA transcripts … Show more

“…Furthermore, they showed that overexpression of LINC00261 reduced β-catenin and TCF4 expression and simultaneously increased E-cadherin, which is a TCF4 downstream target. In addition, other studies suggested that LINC00261 might act as a sponge for several miRNAs, as it was found in several comprehensive analyses of ceRNA networks in different types of cancer [73][74][75]. However, stringent experimental evidence that would clearly support a ceRNA function of LINC00261 is still lacking.…”

“…In our previous study, we highlighted a potential prognostic role for miR-205. Since then, Zhao et al have reported that miR-205 is closely related to overall survival using the Cancer Genome Atlas database that includes 164 miRNAs implicated in EC [42]. Donkers et al also observed that miR-205 is consistently upregulated in EC.…”

“…Molecular markers offer the advantage of objective results, as they are based on the presence or the absence of a protein or mutation. They have been used in endometrial cancer to improve sub classification [109][110][111][112][113][114][115] , to detect prognostic subgroups [116][117][118][119][120][121][122] , in risk prediction models [123][124][125][126] and in individualized therapy 127 .…”
