“…The extracts were subjected to TLC on cellulose media without fluorescent indicator. The chromatograms were developed with 3 N ammonium hydroxide/methanol (60/75) (11). Visualization was carried out with silver nitrate spray followed by heating at 100 °C and with p-(dimethylamino)benzaldehyde (9).…”

“…There are only a few analytical methods such as high performance liquid chromatography, 1-3 gas chromatography-mass spectrometry, 4 Raman spectroscopy, 5 surfaceenhanced Raman microprobe spectroscopy after adsorption and displacement at the Ag/electrolyte interface, 6 and laser desorption ionization 7 for determination of melamine in samples. On the other hand, a simple method such as thin layer chromatography 8,9 is satisfactory for qualitative analysis, but is not entirely suitable for quantitative purposes. A gas chromatography method 10 requires a preliminary derivatization procedure, which is considered a disadvantage because of the longer time required for sample preparation and the concomi-tant source of analytical errors.…”
