Abstract:BACKGROUND: After severe trauma, the older host experiences more dysfunctional hematopoiesis of bone marrow (BM) hematopoietic stem and progenitor cells (HSPCs), and dysfunctional differentiation of circulating myeloid cells into effective innate immune cells.
