Identification of trend and probability distribution for time series of annual peak flow in Tapi Basin, India

Abstract: This study deals with trend analysis of observed annual peak flow time series data at four stream gauging stations in the Tapi Basin. Innovative trend analysis, recently proposed by S°en, and Mann Kendall test are used to ascertain the trend in extreme annual flow (flood) at aforesaid gauging stations in the Tapi Basin. Also, the time series of extreme flow data have been checked for their serial correlation and, subsequently, flood frequency analysis is undertaken to obtain floods of different return periods.… Show more

“…Bu analiz için yukarıda da ismi verilen bazı yöntemler ortaya atılmıştır. Birçok araştırmacı [19][20][21][22][23][24] tarafından uygulaması yapılan 1:1 doğru (45 o ) yöntemi (Şekil 1) bu çalışmada trendi belirlemek için kullanılmıştır. Bu basit yöntemin uygulama adımlarını şu şekilde sıralamak mümkündür.…”

“…However, almost all the hydro-climate records have significant serial correlations at least on short memory basis, and efficient, effective, and optimum management of water resources requires identification of trends not only monotonically over a given time period but also whether the low, medium, and high values have separate trends (Şen, 2012, 2017). For this reason, Şen (2012) proposed the Innovative Şen Metod (ISM), which has found wide application in hydrology researches (Haktanir and Çitakoglu, 2014;Öztopal and Şen, 2017;Sonali and Kumar, 2013;Dabanli et al, 2016;Mishra and Coulibaly, 2014;Timbadiya et al, 2013). The ISM does not require any assumptions, and it base on the comparison of the two ascendingly ordered halves from the original time series.…”
