Sustainable Total Productive Maintenance (STPM) arose in 2021 as a promising, new concept to fill the lack of sustainability in Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) and allow companies to overcome its implementation barriers. It revolves around increasing the understanding of the systems approach and contributing to setting contemporary companies’ sustainable ideology by supporting orientation toward sustainability from a sustainable maintenance perspective. However, STPM is still in its infancy and is viewed as a complement to the traditional TPM approach and is based on its pillars. Moreover, there is still a dearth of literature discussing STPM. This study aims to present STPM as a novel substitute for TPM while building its unique mechanism based on re-engineered fourth generation management (R4thGM). To pursue such a goal, 94 papers from Scopus, Web of Science, and Science Direct databases published in 2008–2023 were reviewed. This study’s novelty comes from presenting STPM as the best-suited lean manufacturing and sustainability strategy for enhancing sustainable maintenance, encouraging contemporary maintenance (i.e., Industry 4.0 technology-based sustainable maintenance), and supporting second-era contemporary companies’ orientation toward sustainability. Furthermore, based on recent studies, propositions are formulated to achieve STPM. Finally, research implications and future directions are presented.

This article discusses how to improve the overall equipment effectiveness (OEE) of the chicken bowl printing machine. OEE is important to measure machine performance in the production process. OEE will affect the costs incurred during production activities, such as product defects, how effective the performance of machines is, and how much time is available for production. The failure-tags analysis was used to identify the category factors causing engine failure. The why-why analysis was used to identify the root cause of the problem, and the theory of change was used to explain what should be implemented by the company to improve the OEE value. In 2020, only December had a value above standard by 95%, based on the Seiichi Nakajima OEE has a good value if the value >85%. The OEE values From January to May were fell from 73% to 34% and then kept increasing to 73% in November. The increase of the OEE value can be achieved by implementing a communication schedule, monitoring and evaluating the performance of maintenance staff to achieve a fast maintenance machine process, and applying maintenance rules and guidelines.

Communication has emerged as one of the robust strategies in industries. Many industries have adopted it as an important aspect of business in their workplace. The pattern of business communication is rapidly changing as a result of technological advances. Effective communication is a necessary tool for achieving business success and reduction of workplace conflict. No matter what profession a person chooses, the ability to communicate is a necessary skill that employers look for when hiring new employees. Individual communication skills influence both personal and organizational effectiveness. The entire communication process is effective when the sender achieves the desired result from the receiver, i.e., the sender's goal in effective communication is to influence the receiver so that they correctly understand the message. An online survey was used to collect data from randomly selected respondents in Bangladesh's Readymade Garment (RMG) sector using a closed-ended questionnaire. The analysis of 120 responses from RMG's owners, managers, officers, and workers was done using PLS-SEM (Smart-PLS). Effective business communication produces productive interpersonal relationships among coworkers, according to the findings. The findings also show that the skills of using different types, processes, and components of communication are required by stakeholders in various situations for better outcomes. Besides, in the workplace, poor communication leads to poor performance and low morale. Moreover, the findings of the study will apprise the industry about the effects of trust and work ethics on the effective communication in the sector to overcome communication barriers successfully.
