The approaches to the organization and the first results of the project on the organization of a carbon landfill at the Peoples ' Friendship University of Russia are presented. The topic of the absorption of greenhouse gases by natural ecosystems is one of the most actively developing. A complex of scientific and educational projects on climate change, decarbonization, and assessment of ecosystem services is being implemented at the RUDN University. One of the directions is our own carbon landfill on the campus. The object is of interest as a technologically modified ecosystem that is under the influence of anthropogenic sources. The analysis of ecosystem activity in the absorption of greenhouse gases and, accordingly, the assessment of ecosystem services of this type is implemented using the RUDN's own environmental monitoring network, which has been operating since 2017. Preliminary assessments allowed us to draw conclusions about the degree of transformation of ecosystem components and their contribution to the absorption of greenhouse gases. The project has both practical and educational significance and is considered as part of the package of strategic topics for the development of the university "Campus as a green lab", contributing to the achievement of sustainable development goals. The main transport flows on the RUDN territory are caused by the city public and private transport. The general transportation scheme around and through the campus develops some decades. Today this is a huge traffic system with high technogenic pressure on the surrounding ecosystems. The efforts of the university only on the organization of bike transport and shuttle buses cannot protect in this situation our territory. Thus, the university in collaboration with the Moscow government try to solve the transportation problem: a new underground station named RUDN will be built – this must help to optimize transport flows. Transportation management in the university campus (especially situated in the city) needs to apply reliable models for the optimization of transport pressure. That is why, for the RUDNUniversity campus in the South-West of Moscow, we try to develop the most sensitive indicators and to control a set of technogenic factors affecting environmental quality. The unique environmental monitoring system of the RUDN campus able to evaluate the environmental state of the territory and to contribute to maintaining the environmental quality is now under development. The primary results were presented in September 2019 during the first UI Green Metric World Sustainable Campuses Tour in RUDN.

The choice of informative indicators for local estimates of the transport pressure on urban soil-plant systems is a serious problem of preserving green spaces. The spatial variations of the characteristics of the flows of marker compounds (polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) acting as geochemical markers), the integral characteristics of the toxicity of soil pollutants, roots and aerial parts of plants TEQ, as well as the values of indicator ratios based on the concentrations of PAHs in the media are considered. The object of local research is the RUDN University campus (Moscow, Russia) with an adjacent forest park area. The territory is located in the zone of influence of heavy traffic flows and is experiencing an intense load from emissions. The state of the territory is monitored at 33 points according to a unique monitoring program. Pollution indicators showed different informativeness for constructing transport pressure models. Various modes of pollution in 3 functional zones of the territory are revealed; the zones of influence of the main sources of pollution are justified. The indicator ratios confirmed the leading source of pollution –pyrogenic emissions of transport, but they are to varying degrees sensitive to the activity of local pollution sources. Priority routes of PAH intake and accumulation in the components of the soil and plant system were identified. For the first time, a correlation between a number of ratios and indicators of polyarene contamination toxicity (TEQ) was established.
