Identification of the state of the soil-plant systems on the RUDN-University campus (based on PAH concentrations)

Abstract: The environmental state of soil-plant systems under the condition of technogenic pressure has been demonstrated on the example of the social significant territory in the city of Moscow – the campus of the RUDN University. The assessment is based on the analyses of the environmental fate of polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAH) in soil, roots and aerial parts of plants of bluegrass meadow: Naphthalene (Naph), Fluorene (Fluorene), Phenanthrene (Phen), Anthracene (An), Fluoranthene (Flu), Pyrene (Py), Chrysene (… Show more

“…Data on marker compounds (polycyclic hydrocarbons, PAHs) in snow cover, soil, and vegetation were used as the basis for such estimations, including the indicator ratio calculations. The preliminary modelling justified the predominant role of the vehicle transport as a pollution source [2,[4][5][6].…”

“…Materials used for the modeling in this study are: Results of the accounting of vehicles (evaluation of the transport flow during the day and during the week); Results of sampling in campus and neighbor area: these works were organized in the framework of the project on environmental monitoring of campus; ta data currently include about 4000 measurements of the concentrations of gaseous pollutants, PM, soot in the atmospheric air and in sols; soil moisture and conductivity, electromagnetic fields level, noise level, radioactivity; bioindication results; measurements of PAHs and aliphatic hydrocarbons in snow, soils and parts of plant organisms [3][4][5]. ; Data on the project of the construction of the new metro station [6].…”

“…Была выявлена необходимость проверки репрезентативности и корректировки общепринятых значений индикаторных соотношений для исследования загрязненных природных и антропогенных объектов. Вариации соотношений во многом обусловлены разновидностями исходного материла (видами почв, растительности), условиями хранения и подготовкой проб для анализа, возрастом загрязнения, удаленностью от источника и другими обстоятельствами [1, 15,16].…”
