“…During the past 10 years, different sex-specific markers have been successfully identified in some aquaculture fishes by using different approaches. For examples, sex-specific microsatellite markers have been isolated in lake charr (Salvelinus namaycush) (Jake Stein et al 2002), the nine-spined stickleback (Pungitius pungitius) (Shikano et al 2011a), half-smooth tongue sole (Cynoglossus semilaevis) (Chen et al 2012;Wang et al 2013a), yellowtail (Seriola quinqueradiata) (Fuji et al 2010), and pacific halibut (Hippoglossus stenolepis) (Galindo et al 2011). Sex-specific DNA sequences have been screened by random amplified polymorphic DNA fingerprinting (RAPD) in African catfish (Clarias gariepinus) (Kovács et al 2001), loach (Paramisgurnus dabryanus) (Xia et al 2011), matrincha (Brycon amazonicus) (Da Silva et al 2012), and turbot (Scophthalmus maximus) (Vale et al 2014).…”

“…Actually we could not morphologically distinguish males and females at the three month old stage. But sex-linked markers have already been identified on the linkage group Squ12 within several families [27]. Our results indicated that there are no differences between males and females.…”
