“…The prevalent localization of ACF in the distal and middle colon has been reported by other researchers, who suggested that ACF are not random lesions of the rodent colon treated with genotoxic colon carcinogens (Geng, Adler, & Gress, 1998;Rodrigues, Silva, Salvadori, de Camargo, & Montenegro, 2002). Among the different treatment groups, the mice receiving 0.25% EGCG derivatives had smaller number of medium ACF (P7 AC/focus) in their distal colon.…”

“…To analyze the effect of TGF-b1 on cell morphology pancreatic cancer cell lines were grown to 70% confluence in DMEM containing 10% FCS. Afterwards, cells were washed twice in serum free medium, starved for 24 h in serum free medium and finally treated for 12 and 24 h with 10 ng ml 71 TGF-b1 (R&D, Wiesbaden, Germany) or medium alone (Geng et al, 1999). Thereafter total RNA was extracted using the RNAclean kit (AGS, Heidelberg, Germany) as indicated by the manufacturer.…”

“…In this context we developed a serial characterization approach allowing us to identifiy genes associated, e.g., with the invasive/metastatic potential of pancreatic cancer cells, embryonal development or transcriptionally regulated by growth factors as epidermal growth factor (EGF) or transforming growth factor-β (TGF-β). 9 In this serial characterization approach all cDNA clones classified as differentially expressed were spotted in duplicate onto 9 × 13 cm nylon membranes to facilitate automated analysis. To identifiy, e.g., TGF-β or EGF target genes these small sublibraries are hybridized with cDNA probes from cell lines treated with the respective growth factor or from untreated cells.…”
