Objectives: This study investigated the relationship between adolescents' suicidal ideation and their physical health conditions to contribute to lower suicide rates among adolescents. Methods: Secondary analysis of 2108 high school students of 10 th grade was conducted using the Korean Child and Youth Panel survey in 2013. The association between suicidal ideation and socio-demographic and health characteristics were analyzed using Chi-square tests and regression models. Results: Adolescents' physical health conditions were significantly related to suicidal ideation. In particular, rhinitis and various symptoms such as feeling feverish, low appetite, feeling of nausea, stomachache while studying, and sleeping problem showed statistically significant relationships with suicidal ideation (P < .05). Furthermore, the higher frequency of diseases and body symptoms increases the rate of suicidal ideation. Considering socio-economic characteristics, family structure was also important. Conclusions: Physical health condition is a major contributor to adolescent's suicidal ideation. results suggest that improving social support system for adolescents' physical health conditions across family and school may be important in suicide prevention efforts.

Aim This study aimed to analyse risk and protective factors for teen suicide and bullying. Background Research shows that high percentages of bully‐victims report suicidal thinking or suicide attempts. Design This was an international integrative review. Data sources Five databases including CINAHL, Scopus, PubMed, Google Scholar and Cuiden were searched between January 2010 and December 2020. Review methods Review methods included problem identification; search, evaluation and analysis of literature; and presentation of results. Results Eighteen studies were included. We grouped the selected articles into seven thematic categories. The most significant risk factors were being male, having a previous personal and/or family suicide attempt, mental health problems, substance abuse, previous physical and/or sexual abuse, low socio‐economic level, belonging to a single‐parent family, underachievement, family dysfunction and violent environment. The most common protective factors for both suicide and bullying were being female, having good mental health, belonging to a two‐parent family, safe school environment, good family relationships and having an involved teacher. Conclusion Suicide resulting from bullying is a social and public health problem, so nurse practitioners and paediatric primary care nurses have a responsibility to educate teachers and parents in order to promote early detection and the development of more effective prevention and action plans.

Pennsylvania's response to adolescent suicide is its Student Assistance Program (SAP). SAP has been funded for 27 years although no statewide outcome studies using case-level data have been conducted. This study used logistic regression to examine drug-/alcohol-related behaviors and suspensions of suicidal students who participated in SAP. Of the 46 services, 10 best predicted (p<.01) that these undesirable outcomes would cease. Although no study subjects died by suicide, 42 of 374,626 referred students did die by suicide. Suicidal students who did not participate had double the rate of suicide of suicidal participants of SAP. Students referred for other reasons also killed themselves. Further work must be done to assess all referred students for suicide risk, examine educational outcomes, monitor substance-related crimes and overdoses, and examine school-related factors postmortem. Evidence from this study can be used by researchers to plan future studies and by Pennsylvania's school nurses when planning services.
