“…The sex pheromone of A. nigrisigna has been identified (Sugie et al 1991), and communication disruption in the adult A. nigrisigna by use of the synthetic sex pheromone has been effectively applied in cabbage fields (Koyama et al 1995;Ichikawa et al 2002); however, communication disruption has limiting factors, i.e., the need for wide-area establishment of the pheromone formulation, to avoid pest infestation by migration of mated females (Cardé and Minks 1995;Nomura and Hashiyama 2010), and the need for application of supplemental insecticides in areas of high pest density (Welter et al 2005). The seasonal prevalence of A. nigrisigna overlaps with that of other major noctuid pests, for example Mamestra brassicae (L.) and Helicoverpa armigera (Hübner), in the cabbage field (Hirata 1963;Ichikawa et al 2002), so it is important to develop effective biological control agents available for simultaneous management of A. nigrisigna and other pests.…”
